FAQ
What is the difference between coaching and therapy?
Although I am a huge advocate for therapy, it does not always work for everyone. Therapy is focused on psychoanalyzing the past and the impact it has had on an individual, while coaching is focused on the future and is highly solution oriented. There are cases where client will benefit from working with both a therapist and a coach, especially if the individual is suffering from severe anxiety, depression, or childhood trauma. For clients who have a desire to change and are driven towards a goal coaching is the best personal and professional support a client can get. Coaching is future focused and supports clients to move forward from their current situation. The primary focus of coaching is on creating actionable strategies for achieving specific goals in one’s work or personal life. The emphasis is on self-discovery, action, accountability, and follow-through.
Professional Coaching is an ongoing professional relationship that helps people produce extraordinary results in their lives, careers, businesses or organizations. Through the process of Coaching, clients deepen their learning, improve their performance, and enhance their quality of life.” – American Bar Association
I have been to therapists but didn’t see much improvement or change, how will coaching help me?
Some people thrive in therapy, while others get stuck and wrapped up in the analysis of why and how and what if. For those individuals coaching is a very positive and driven approach, where there is no room for getting stuck. The process is very goal oriented, and that structure assures both coach and client to measure success and evaluate the strides that were made. Every accomplishment is rewarded and the objective is to always focus on the positive.
How many coaching sessions will I need?
Coaching time is really different for everyone and in every situation. Depending on what the challenges are you will need anywhere from 4-8 sessions to start with. Some people come back all the time because they are looking to continuously grow and evolve in different areas of their lives. Women who are going through a divorce will sometimes come during the court process or during a particularly challenging time, and then maybe come back once they are ready to date. Some come back to gain confidence to go back to the workforce, some to launch their own business, to explore dating again, and some just to get continues support.
My goal however is to “Empower women” enough so they can spread their wings and fly.
